It’s hard for someone like George Martin to be all that biased when it comes to The Beatles. He was the one who plucked them out of Liverpool when they were still an amateur bar band, and while he may have steered them in the right direction, he was made privy to some of the […]

There’s no way of thinking of The Beatles without going back to the partnership between John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Every single member of the band helped make the Fab Four what they were, but there was a certain synergy between McCartney’s optimism and Lennon’s biting wit that made the band’s songs work so well […]

It’s both the most miraculous and saddest thing about The Beatles when you remember that, at the end of the day, they were just four friends. Meeting as mere teenagers back in Liverpool, the band was gathered through church fêtes and childhood reputations for the most part, as Paul McCartney met John Lennon at a […]

But while Lennon had more […]

The Beatles were never meant to survive as a touring act for the rest of their lives. Even if they were happy to play to thousands of screaming fans every night, it probably wasn’t the best feeling in the world knowing that they could hardly hear themselves and that their audience was overpowering the music. […]
